Terms of use, disclaimer & legal notices

Effective date: August 31, 2026 Last updated: August 31, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use, Disclaimer and Legal Notices (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the PetitionIQ website, evaluation tools, content, communications, scheduling features, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing, browsing, registering for, submitting information through, communicating with PetitionIQ regarding, scheduling consultations through, making payments for, or otherwise using any portion of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms and the PetitionIQ Privacy Policy.

These Terms incorporate by reference the PetitionIQ Privacy Policy and any additional disclosures, acknowledgments, consultation terms, payment terms, service agreements, refund policies, attorney engagement agreements, and other written terms applicable to particular Services.

You acknowledge that you have not relied upon any statement, representation, estimate, sample evaluation, prior outcome, marketing material, or communication not expressly contained in these Terms or an applicable written agreement.

Nothing contained in these Terms obligates PetitionIQ or any attorney or law firm to provide services, accept a matter, complete an evaluation, offer a consultation, recommend a particular immigration strategy, continue providing any Service, or enter into a legal engagement unless expressly agreed to in writing.

PetitionIQ reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, to modify, suspend, refuse, restrict, or discontinue any Service or feature at any time.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue access to and use of the Services. Certain Services may be subject to additional terms, disclosures, acknowledgments, consultation terms, payment terms, service agreements, attorney engagement agreements, or other written arrangements. Where applicable, such additional terms are incorporated by reference and will govern the specific Services to which they relate. In the event of any inconsistency, the separately signed or expressly accepted agreement will control solely with respect to the subject matter it addresses, and these Terms will continue to govern all other aspects of your use of the Services.

2. About PetitionIQ

PetitionIQ is an immigration legal-technology and case-preparation platform that provides technology-enabled, administrative, and informational support services relating to immigration matters. PetitionIQ may provide preliminary profile evaluations, structured evidence reviews, workflow support, educational materials, administrative coordination, and technology-enabled case-preparation assistance. PetitionIQ may also facilitate connections with independently licensed immigration attorneys or law firms for legal consultations or representation, where appropriate.

PetitionIQ is not a law firm and does not independently practice law, provide legal advice or legal representation, establish attorney-client relationships, determine legal eligibility for immigration benefits, recommend legal strategies or immigration classifications, sign or file legal submissions on behalf of users, or make legal decisions for users.

Any legal advice, legal services, legal representation, or filing decisions are provided solely by independently licensed attorneys or law firms pursuant to a separate written engagement agreement, if any. Nothing in these Terms obligates PetitionIQ or any attorney or law firm to accept a matter, provide services, or undertake legal representation unless expressly agreed to in writing.

3. No legal advice

Information provided through the Services, including preliminary evaluations, assessments, scores, reports, and other content, is for general informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. It should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney who has reviewed the facts of your particular matter.

Immigration laws, regulations, policies, filing requirements, fees, and adjudicative practices may change and may not apply uniformly to every case. PetitionIQ does not guarantee that any information or evaluation reflects the most current legal developments or is applicable to your circumstances. You are responsible for obtaining legal advice from a licensed attorney before making legal decisions or filing any immigration petition, application, or related submission.

4. No attorney-client relationship

Your use of the Services, including completing an evaluation, receiving a score or report, submitting an inquiry, communicating with PetitionIQ, requesting or scheduling a consultation, or being referred to an attorney or law firm, does not create an attorney-client relationship with PetitionIQ or any attorney or law firm.

An attorney-client relationship is formed only when an independently licensed attorney or law firm affirmatively accepts the representation and executes a separate written engagement agreement with you. Until that occurs, you should not assume that an attorney represents you, has accepted responsibility for your matter or deadlines, or will take any action on your behalf.

Using the website, completing an evaluation, receiving a score or report, submitting an inquiry, communicating with PetitionIQ, or scheduling a consultation does not create an attorney-client relationship with PetitionIQ or with any attorney. An attorney-client relationship is formed only when an independently licensed attorney or law firm affirmatively accepts the representation and the user and attorney execute the attorney’s required engagement agreement. Until that occurs, do not assume that an attorney represents you, will protect a deadline, or will take action on your behalf.

5. Independent attorneys and attorney-controlled services

Any legal advice, legal review, legal representation, filing decisions, or legal work product are provided solely by independently licensed attorneys or law firms exercising their independent professional judgment. Attorneys independently determine whether to accept a matter, what services to provide, what legal strategy and evidence are appropriate, and whether a filing is ready for submission.

PetitionIQ does not direct or control an attorney’s professional judgment and is not responsible for an attorney’s legal advice, professional conduct, case strategy, acceptance or rejection of a matter, or the outcome of any legal proceeding or immigration matter. The attorney’s separate written engagement agreement governs the scope of legal services, fees, confidentiality obligations, and the terms of representation.

7. No guarantee of eligibility, filing, or outcome

PetitionIQ does not guarantee eligibility, attorney acceptance, filing, processing time, request-for-evidence avoidance, approval, visa issuance, admission, status, priority date treatment, or any other immigration result. Government agencies retain complete authority over adjudications and may request additional evidence, issue adverse decisions, change policies, or exercise discretion differently from any evaluation or attorney assessment.

Past results, examples, sample reports, testimonials, ratings, and descriptions of successful matters are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute a guarantee, prediction, or representation of similar results or outcomes in any other matter.

8. Evaluation and attorney-engagement workflow

PetitionIQ may offer a preliminary evaluation stage and may later facilitate an attorney consultation or attorney-led case engagement. The scope, price, deliverables, and responsible service provider will be disclosed through the applicable webpage, acknowledgment, order form, consultation terms, attorney engagement letter, or services agreement.

A preliminary evaluation, payment, consultation, attorney referral, or other interaction with PetitionIQ does not guarantee attorney acceptance, legal representation, or that any matter will proceed to filing. PetitionIQ and independently licensed attorneys or law firms reserve the right to request additional information, recommend a different course of action, limit the scope of services, or decline representation in their sole professional and business discretion.

9. User information and responsibilities

You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, current, and truthful information and for promptly correcting any errors or omissions. PetitionIQ and independently licensed attorneys or law firms may rely on the information you provide. Incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information may materially affect evaluations, legal advice, filings, legal strategy, or immigration outcomes.

You are also responsible for:

  • Reviewing materials: Carefully reviewing all evaluations, assessments, reports, drafts, translations, timelines, and other outputs for accuracy and completeness before relying on or submitting them.
  • Protecting deadlines: Tracking all applicable deadlines relating to your matter, including filing deadlines, government notices and requests, appointments, interviews, and the submission of required documents, unless an independently licensed attorney has expressly agreed in writing to assume responsibility for them.
  • Using secure channels: Providing sensitive information only through the methods designated by PetitionIQ or an engaged attorney or law firm.
  • Obtaining permissions: Ensuring that you have the legal authority to provide any documents, personal information, recommendation letters, employer materials, images, or third-party content.
  • Cooperating with counsel: Timely responding to requests for information, reviewing filings and supporting documents, and approving final submissions as required by the applicable engagement agreement.

10. Sensitive information and public forms

Do not submit highly sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, full passport or visa numbers, alien registration numbers, financial account details, tax records, or medical records through public website forms or unsecured communications unless specifically instructed.

PetitionIQ may utilize proprietary or third-party systems for document collection, communications, or case-related workflows. You are responsible for following the instructions provided for the applicable Service and reviewing any applicable terms of use and privacy policies before submitting information.

11. Third-party platforms and links

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services, including attorney websites, case-management systems, document-storage platforms, payment processors, scheduling tools, video-conferencing services, electronic-signature providers, analytics tools, and social networks.

Third parties are independent from PetitionIQ and operate under their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, availability commitments, and dispute procedures. PetitionIQ does not control or guarantee third-party services and is not responsible for third-party acts, omissions, security incidents, service interruptions, data practices, or content, except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded.

12. Confidentiality, privilege, and case records

Where PetitionIQ provides technology-enabled, administrative, or case-preparation support at an attorney's direction, such support does not make PetitionIQ a law firm, create an attorney-client relationship, or independently establish attorney-client privilege.

Communications with PetitionIQ through the public website or before attorney engagement are not automatically confidential or protected by attorney-client privilege. Do not submit privileged or highly sensitive information unless specifically instructed to use an appropriate secure communication channel.

13. Ownership and intellectual property

You retain ownership of information and materials you lawfully provide. PetitionIQ does not claim ownership of a client’s underlying documents, personal records, or attorney legal work product. Ownership, permitted use, and return of attorney work product or client-file materials are governed by the attorney’s engagement agreement and applicable law.

PetitionIQ and its licensors retain all rights in the Services and related technology, including the website, software, user interface, branding, trademarks, scoring methodology, generalized evaluation frameworks, templates, workflows, graphics, non-client-specific content, and improvements. No right or license is granted except the limited right to use the Services for their intended purpose in compliance with these Terms.

You may not copy, reproduce, publish, resell, reverse engineer, scrape, systematically extract, create competing datasets from, or commercially exploit PetitionIQ technology or content without written permission. You may use an evaluation or report prepared for you for your own internal review and, where appropriate, share it with your attorney.

14. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Misuse the Services: Use the Services for fraud, misrepresentation, unauthorized practice of law, unlawful immigration-related activity, harassment, or any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • Submit false or harmful content: Upload or transmit information you know is false, misleading, defamatory, infringing, malicious, or unlawfully obtained or otherwise harmful.
  • Interfere with systems: Attempt to bypass security, gain unauthorized access, introduce malware, overload systems, probe vulnerabilities, or otherwise disrupt the operation of the Services.
  • Exploit content or automation: Use bots, scraping, automated extraction, or other methods to copy or reconstruct the Services, reconstruct, reverse engineer, or develop competing products, services, datasets, or evaluation methodologies based on the Services without prior written permission.
  • Impersonate others: Misrepresent identity, authority, qualifications, attorney status, employment, or affiliation with any person or organization.

PetitionIQ reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the maximum extent permitted by law, to suspend or terminate access to the Services, refuse or limit any request or Service, preserve relevant records, or report unlawful or harmful conduct when reasonably necessary to protect users, attorneys, systems, or its legal rights and interests.

15. Fees, payments, and refunds

Prices, payment terms, the scope of Services, and any applicable refund policies will be disclosed at the time of purchase or in the applicable acknowledgment, order form, services agreement, or attorney engagement agreement. PetitionIQ fees and attorney fees, if any, may be governed by separate agreements.

Payments may be processed by independent third-party payment providers. You agree to provide accurate and complete billing information and authorize all applicable charges.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, payment for any Service, including a preliminary evaluation or consultation, does not create an attorney-client relationship, guarantee attorney representation, obligate PetitionIQ or any attorney or law firm to accept a matter, or guarantee any particular result or immigration outcome.

16. Communications and electronic transactions

By providing your contact information, you consent to receive communications from PetitionIQ relating to inquiries, evaluations, appointments, transactions, service updates, and support by email, telephone, text message, or other electronic means, subject to applicable law. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of promotional communications at any time; however, PetitionIQ may continue to send transactional, service-related, or legally required communications.

You consent to the use of electronic records, notices, disclosures, acknowledgments, and signatures where permitted by law and are responsible for maintaining accurate and current contact information and promptly reviewing communications from PetitionIQ. Failure to receive or review communications due to inaccurate or outdated contact information does not relieve you of any obligations or deadlines relating to your matter.

17. Service availability and changes

PetitionIQ may modify, suspend, restrict, discontinue, or update any part of the Services at any time and has no obligation to maintain or continue any particular Service or feature. The Services may be unavailable or delayed due to maintenance, third-party service disruptions, security events, technical limitations, legal or regulatory requirements, or business decisions. PetitionIQ does not guarantee that the Services will be continuous, error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

18. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” PetitionIQ disclaims all express and implied warranties, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, security, and results.

PetitionIQ does not warrant that the Services, evaluations, assessments, draft content, communications, or third-party integrations will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, legally sufficient, or suitable for any particular immigration matter, filing, or outcome. Nothing in the Services constitutes a warranty or guarantee of attorney acceptance, legal representation, or any immigration or legal result. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, and portions of this section may not apply to you.

19. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PetitionIQ and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, including any loss of opportunity, immigration benefits or status, income, profits, data, goodwill, or business, arising from or relating to the Services, evaluations, attorney referrals, third-party services, government actions or decisions, or reliance on any information or output provided through the Services.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PetitionIQ’s total liability arising from the specific Services giving rise to a claim will not exceed the amount paid directly to PetitionIQ for those Services during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Except where prohibited by applicable law, the foregoing limitations of liability constitute your sole and exclusive remedy with respect to any claim arising from or relating to the Services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded or liability arising from PetitionIQ’s gross negligence or willful misconduct where applicable law so requires.

20. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless PetitionIQ and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers from and against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, costs, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from or relating to your use or misuse of the Services, violation of these Terms, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information or materials you provide, unlawful or infringing content, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any person or entity. PetitionIQ may, where permitted by law, assume control of the defense of any covered claim and will provide reasonable notice thereof.

21. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the United States of America, Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum or venue. Nothing in these Terms limits PetitionIQ’s right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief where permitted by law.

22. Changes to these terms

PetitionIQ may modify or update these Terms at any time to reflect changes in applicable law, technology, business practices, or the Services. Updated Terms will be posted with a revised “Last Updated” date and will become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated. PetitionIQ may, but is not obligated to, provide notice of material changes by email, through the website, or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of such changes, except where additional consent is required by applicable law.

23. General provisions

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid or unenforceable provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. PetitionIQ’s failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without PetitionIQ’s prior written consent. PetitionIQ may assign or transfer these Terms without restriction in connection with a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transaction. Section headings are provided for convenience only and have no legal effect.

These Terms, the PetitionIQ Privacy Policy, and any applicable written service agreement constitute the entire agreement between you and PetitionIQ regarding the Services covered by them. Any attorney engagement agreement is solely between you and the independently licensed attorney or law firm and exclusively governs legal advice, legal services, and legal representation.
